I hear all the time about how difficult it is to get a response to an application let alone get to interview stage. This is because there are so many people looking for the same role. Below are a few tips that May help in getting to that elusive interview – or as a minimum a response to your application.
When you see a role you are suitable for respond in the manner requested in the ad i.e. hit the apply button and submit your CV. Once you have done that call the company and ask for the person who’s name is on the ad. If there is no name on the ad, ask who is handling the role. Chances are that you will not get through but you just might! Even if you do not get through Leave a Message for them. Ask that they be advised that you have submitted your CV and would they please get back to you if it does not come through or there are any issues with the CV. Leave your phone number. This will hopefully ensure that they will at least check that your CV is there and perhaps they will read it.
If there is no response after a couple of days, go ahead and give them another call. Ask if your CV is of interest for the role. If not ask for feedback from them on your CV. Ask what roles they have that you may be suitable for. Ask if you may stay in contact with them. Please remember the recruiters are reviewing a lot of candidates and therefore their time is limited. Keeping a recruiter on the phone too long could be more of a negative if they need to get on.
If you do not get an interview for the role request that they keep you in mind for future roles and contact them every 3-4 weeks until you have secured something. This will keep you top of mind, build rapport with that recruiter and they will want very much to secure a role for you.
Good Luck!
